Manchester City are considering a move for Crystal Palace's Marc Guéhi after Josko Gvardiol suffered a broken shinbone in Sunday's 1-1 draw with Chelsea. The 23-year-old Croatian defender will undergo surgery, with no timeline yet for his return, leaving Pep Guardiola short of centre-backs.
Rúben Dias was also injured in the same match, while John Stones is already sidelined with a persistent issue. Nathan Aké's fitness is also a concern, prompting City to target Guéhi, who is out of contract at the end of the season. Palace are expected to demand around £40 million for their captain, £5 million more than the fee quoted to Liverpool last summer.
Guéhi, a first-choice centre-back for England under Thomas Tuchel, may be reluctant to move now as he would forfeit a sizeable signing-on fee. He also needs regular game time ahead of the World Cup. Liverpool, Bayern Munich, and Real Madrid are also interested in the 25-year-old.
City confirmed Gvardiol will have surgery this week, with further assessments to determine the full extent of the injury. The Croatia international posted on X: 'This is a hard moment, but it will never define me. I know who I am and where I come from.'
