Liverpool have been dealt a fresh injury setback ahead of their Premier League trip to Fulham, with striker Hugo Ekitike ruled out of the squad.
Ekitike Sidelined for Craven Cottage Clash
The French forward has been omitted from manager Arne Slot's plans for the fixture in west London on Saturday, 4 January 2026. The club confirmed the absence is due to what they describe as a minor fitness issue.
This latest blow compounds a significant shortage of attacking options for the Dutch coach. Liverpool are already without star forward Alexander Isak, who remains sidelined with an injury, and Mohamed Salah, who is away on international duty competing for Egypt at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Form and Attacking Reshuffle
Ekitike has been a key contributor this season, scoring eight goals in eighteen Premier League appearances. However, he has failed to find the net in his last two outings against Wolves and Leeds United, following a prolific spell where he bagged five goals in the three matches prior.
With no recognised striker available, Cody Gakpo is expected to lead the line at Craven Cottage. He is likely to be supported in attack by Dominik Szoboszlai and Florian Wirtz.
Predicted Liverpool Line-Up
Arne Slot is anticipated to field the following starting eleven against Fulham:
- Goalkeeper: Alisson
- Defence: Bradley, Konate, Van Dijk, Kerkez
- Midfield: Gravenberch, Jones; Mac Allister
- Attack: Szoboszlai, Gakpo, Wirtz
The absence of Ekitike places further pressure on Liverpool's remaining forwards to deliver as they aim to secure a positive result away from home.
