Arsenal have been crowned Premier League champions, but two fixtures remain before the season ends, with several players striving to feature. The Gunners face Crystal Palace this weekend before competing for a spot in the Champions League final against PSG.
Mikel Arteta's Plans
Manager Mikel Arteta has outlined the team's schedule: "We have 48 hours to enjoy the success of winning the league. Now, tomorrow and Saturday, we're going to prepare really well because we need to lift again our habits and standards to compete. On Sunday, we'll have a little window to celebrate, lift the trophy, and connect with our supporters. Then we have six days to write new history."
Mikel Merino
The Spanish midfielder is set to rejoin group training ahead of the Crystal Palace match after recovering from foot surgery in February. Merino participated in a light session on Thursday and will increase his workload from Friday. Arteta confirmed: "Mikel is going to start to train with the group tomorrow. Today he did a little bit; it was a very light session." His match sharpness remains a concern, but he could return for the PSG clash on May 30.
Jurrien Timber
The Dutch defender has been sidelined with an ankle problem and is trailing Merino in his recovery. Arteta noted: "Jurrien, let's hope he can do the same in the next few days, but he's still a little bit further behind than Mikel." Timber's potential return date is also May 30 against PSG, but his fitness to play a meaningful role is uncertain.
Ben White
The versatile defender is out with a knee injury sustained against West Ham and will not return until pre-season. He can only watch as Arsenal aim for a second trophy.
