Mexico Fans Throw Reporter in Air After World Cup Win

Mexico fans celebrating their historic round of 32 victory over Ecuador got carried away and threw a stunned World Cup reporter in the air. The incident occurred at Sacramento's Memorial Auditorium, where the match was shown on a big screen.

Historic Win for Mexico

The joint hosts secured their first World Cup knockout win in 40 years, defeating Ecuador 2-0 with first-half goals from Julian Quinones and Raul Jimenez. The victory set up a last 16 clash at the Estadio Azteca against England, who advanced after Harry Kane scored two late goals to beat DR Congo.

Reporter Caught Up in Celebrations

KCRA reporter Peyton Headlee was covering the watch party in Sacramento. As she spoke to the camera, a fan scooped her up, and fellow supporters helped carry her before throwing her in the air. After being put down, Headlee continued her coverage, with excited fans jumping behind her.

Headlee later posted snapshots of the moment to her nearly 8,000 Instagram followers, captioning them: "Happy to cover a Mexico watch party any day of the week." It remains unclear if she will cover Mexico's next match against England in the early hours of Monday morning.

Altitude Concerns for England

England manager Thomas Tuchel expressed concerns about playing at 7,000 feet above sea level, telling talkSPORT: "We will not be ready; we will arrive one day early, but we will not be ready because you cannot be ready in terms of adaptation. The body cannot adapt in three days' time, it's just impossible. We need 12 days' time, 14 days' time. We don't have it, so it is a big disadvantage, of course."

Tuchel added: "Let's see how much sleep we get, let's see how much travelling takes [it out of players]... I think there will be a lot of obstacles can come; we play against a home nation, we play in altitude, we play in heat, so humidity. Yeah, they will throw it at us; I think we saw today that this team means it. They are ready to walk the talk; when the going gets tough, they show up, and we will do this again."
