McCoist: Celtic's flying start is 'worrying' for the league

Ally McCoist has admitted Celtic's red-hot start to the Premiership season should have the rest of the league worried. The Hoops have won two from two in the league and eased through to the Premier Sports Cup quarter-finals, racking up ten goals in the process.

They have since hit another three in their Champions League qualifier playoff against LASK to all but secure their place in the group stage. In contrast, Rangers are winless in the league under Derek McInnes and made hard work of their Conference League playoff first leg against Jablonec, despite blowing St Mirren away in the League Cup at Ibrox.

Big spending and a new arrival

The champions have been spending big after a number of underwhelming transfer windows had fans demanding proper investment, with more new arrivals in the pipeline. Martin O'Neill is back in the dugout after being hospitalised for a minor procedure, and McCoist is sure the performances from his team have been just the tonic.

"Celtic have had a great start," he told talkSPORT Bet. "I don't think there's any doubt the way Celtic have started has helped his recovery, because I thought they were comfortable in the opener. Kasper Hogh looked the real deal against Kilmarnock."

'Worrying signs' for the rest of the league

"I watched him down there, a proper centre forward's goal. Then the signing of Hassan, I don't mind telling you I was impressed with him in the World Cup, arguably in one of the runs of the tournament which ended up with a disallowed goal if you remember."

"So yes, worrying signs for the rest of the league, no getting away from it."
