Big Stacks has insisted he never took himself seriously as the 'Hardest Man in the UK'. The influencer - whose real name is Charlie Robert - shot to fame after posting a video claiming to be the toughest man in the country. But despite the response, he insists he was only ever joking.
A Joke That Rattled Boxing
"Everyone knows me as 'The Hardest Man in the UK,' but it's more of a joke. A lot of people did believe it at first, so it's quite funny," he said.
"I looked in the camera and said, 'There's not one man in the UK that can beat me in a fight. Any type of skill level you got, I'll smash your head in.' Obviously I was joking about it. I didn't think people would believe it, and it rattled the whole boxing industry. Not all of them, but there are a lot of boxers, professional boxers, cage fighters, bare-knuckle fighters wanted to fight me, wanted to give it a test, see if they could beat me."
"But I just ran with it, and then started mocking all these fighters, and then it just sort of stuck. I don't know, like now everyone calls me 'The Hardest Man in the UK'."
Return to the Ring
Big Stacks made his boxing debut earlier this year when he was stopped by Armz Korleone. Their bout was downgraded to one which allowed body shots only after Big Stacks was injured following an altercation with Jordan McCann - and the two will now clash in Newcastle tonight.
Trouble From the Moniker
But Big Stacks admits his moniker of being the 'UK's Hardest Man' has landed him in trouble. "It's got me in loads of trouble," he added. "When it first started, I had serious phone calls saying, 'Mate, we've been told to come and do you, come fill you in properly.' They were some serious travellers from my manor, and I'm like, 'What the f***?'. I didn't really understand, because I thought everyone knew it was a joke."
"But people have got egos, and see, old-school people back in the day, because there are some serious gangsters, at first they couldn't stand me. Now they've sort of like warmed to the 'Hardest Man', but at first it did give me a little trouble."
