Tom Brady Challenges Scottie Scheffler's Views on Balancing Golf and Fatherhood

NFL legend Tom Brady has questioned world number one golfer Scottie Scheffler's recent comments suggesting that being a good father and a top golfer are separate priorities. Brady, a seven-time Super Bowl winner, responded in his weekly newsletter to Scheffler's remarks made after winning The Open.

Scheffler, 29, had said the joy of winning a major "only lasts a few minutes" and that he is more focused on being a good father than being the greatest golfer. However, Brady challenged this view, asking why the two must be mutually exclusive. He argued that dedication to sport can be an example of taking care of one's family and teaching children about commitment.

Brady wrote: "I think part of being a great father is being a great example of doing what it takes to take care of your family. I chose to do it by playing football." He added that children observe all aspects of their parents' lives, and that reading bedtime stories is not the only way to be a great parent.

Scheffler later admitted he regretted his initial comments, telling the Pardon My Take podcast: "I remember walking out of that room and I'm looking at Blake, my manager... and I'm like, 'Gosh, why did I start ranting like that.'" He also clarified that the happiness from winning a major lasts a long time, but said striving for golf tournaments as the only thing would lead to disappointment.
