Harry Redknapp has urged Thomas Tuchel to call up Arsenal teenage sensation Max Dowman to the England squad, describing the 16-year-old as a 'special player'.
Dowman became the second youngest player in Premier League history when he made his Arsenal debut in August 2025. Further appearances in the Premier League, Champions League and cup competitions followed, with Dowman scoring a memorable late goal against Everton in March.
Arsenal's title win made Dowman the youngest Premier League winner in history, while he became the youngest player to start in the competition on the final day of the season.
Redknapp backs Dowman for Euros
There were calls for Dowman to be included in England's World Cup squad over the summer, but Tuchel resisted the urge to call up the teenager. Redknapp says he would waste no time before giving the 'special talent' an international opportunity.
'You've got the kid Max Dowman at Arsenal who's coming through. He's a real talent, he really is a special player,' Redknapp told OLBG's 'The Jeff Stelling Show'. 'I think he'll get into the squad for the Euros, for sure. He played at Ipswich and got two goals. I mean, the kid is just an amazing talent.'
'I think he's that good. I would throw him in and see. Look at Spain, they're not afraid to throw kids in at 17, 18. If they're good enough, they play.'
England's World Cup disappointment
England reached the semi-finals of the summer World Cup before a defeat to eventual runners-up Argentina. Redknapp believes Tuchel has one of the strongest squads in world football but was 'disappointed' Cole Palmer and Trent Alexander-Arnold were not picked for the World Cup.
'In the end we got beaten by what I thought was a very average Argentinian team,' the ex-manager added. 'I was disappointed that we didn't take Cole Palmer and didn't take Trent Alexander-Arnold.'
'You can't tell me that sitting there with 25 minutes to go, you wouldn't think, "Hang on, we need a bit of magic here, and Cole Palmer's right there on the bench".'
'So yeah, I think it was disappointing. I know we finished third or whatever, but it's been the same for years. We walk through the qualifying games and as soon as we come up against a half decent team, we always seem to get beaten.'
'Our squad is stronger than any of them. So it's disappointing that we haven't managed to win a trophy.'
England began this international break with a 3-2 defeat to World Cup holders Spain before beating Czech Republic and Croatia in Nations League Group 3.
