Twilight Fun can take advantage of a significant drop in his handicap rating in the Winning Experience With Moulton Racing Handicap (5.18, NB) at Yarmouth today. The six-year-old does most of his racing on the all-weather these days but returns from a 63-day break to a track where he is a past winner and on soft going that should be to his liking.
Yarmouth and Redcar selections
A five-time winner for trainer Chelsea Banham, Twilight Fun finished fourth of eight off a mark of 80 over 6f at Yarmouth in May. On his most recent start he was beaten a neck at Wolverhampton in July and he returns to the Norfolk venue with a turf rating of 74. The habitual front-runner could be hard to peg back over today’s 5f trip.
At Redcar, Enamorus has a chance to show she is much better than she has shown so far in the Market Cross Jewellers Handicap (3.53, NAP). Last year she was placed at Newmarket, Ascot and Chester but has only made the frame once in four attempts this season and was beaten 20 lengths at Beverley last time out. Even though the filly is 2lb lower in the ratings, Jack Nicholls will take another 3lb off her back and that combination can get the job done.
Uttoxeter jumps tip
Over jumps at Uttoxeter, top claimer Callum Pritchard can make the difference on Betty’s Tiara in the Support Scropton Riding For The Disabled Conditional Jockeys' Handicap Hurdle (2.00). The Ben Pauling-trained mare scrambled home on her return to smaller obstacles at Worcester after Ben Jones had dropped his whip and she can follow up on a track where she has previous winning form.
