The fairways of The K Club witnessed a dramatic shift in fortunes during the moving day at the Horizon Irish Open, as home favourite Rory McIlroy's challenge dramatically unravelled. The Northern Irishman's dream of a second title on home soil was left in tatters after a disappointing third-round 72, leaving him a distant twelve shots off the pace.
While McIlroy faltered, a trio of seasoned professionals seized the initiative. Scotland's Richie Ramsay carded a superb bogey-free 67 to claim a share of the lead at ten-under-par. The tournament is now poised for a thrilling finale with a packed leaderboard. Ramsay's consistent and error-free golf showcased his tactical prowess, while Hovland's powerful ball-striking makes him a perpetual threat. Noren, however, might be the man with the momentum after a spectacular run of five birdies in six holes around the turn propelled him into contention.
They are closely pursued by a chasing pack including England's Aaron Rai and Germany's Hurly Long, setting the stage for a captivating final day's play in County Kildare.
