Moses Itauma has spoken out after being taken to hospital following his world title defeat to Filip Hrgovic on Saturday night. The 21-year-old was stretchered from the ring after his corner threw in the towel, marking the first loss of his professional career.
Itauma discharged and responds
Itauma has since been discharged from hospital and has now addressed the defeat. Despite the negative result, the fighter appeared positive, saying: "So yesterday wasn't my night. We attempted greatness, and we just fell short to the more experienced man."
He added: "I want to say congratulations to Filip Hrgovic on his win, and although I never reached my desired outcome, I believe I gained experience that I'll take to my future fights."
Gratitude to fans and promoters
Itauma also thanked supporters, saying: "I want to thank the fans in and outside the arena. You guys made it a little bit more special and a little bit more electrifying than I expected. It was a f***ing good fight, and I want to thank Queensberry and DAZN for putting this show on."
