Wu Yize, the 22-year-old Chinese snooker player who won his first world title on Monday by defeating Shaun Murphy 10-6 at The Crucible, has shared his plans for the £500,000 prize money. In an interview with SportsBoom, he said he intends to buy a house and take his parents travelling.

Wu described his parents as 'the true champions' and 'the source of my strength'. He added: 'I just want to have a good sleep. I was feeling the nerves throughout the full match, right now I just want to go to bed.'

The champion also spoke about his mother's ongoing health battle, saying she has been in hospital frequently during their time in Sheffield. 'She sacrificed everything for me,' Wu said. 'She means everything to me.'
