OutKick host defends WNBA sex toy pranks as 'funny' amid safety concerns

Conservative sports pundit Dan Dakich has urged the WNBA to “embrace” the trend of fans throwing fluorescent sex toys onto the court, dismissing safety concerns as overblown. Speaking on Fox News, the OutKick host said the stunts are “funny” and a sign of the league’s growing popularity.

Dakich’s comments came after Los Angeles Sparks coach Lynne Roberts condemned the pranks as “really stupid” and a danger to players. During a recent game, a sex toy landed near Indiana Fever star Sophie Cunningham, who had previously pleaded with fans to stop the practice.

“It’s not dangerous,” Dakich insisted, citing his own experience as a player and coach. “I’ve been on basketball courts since 1969 and had stuff thrown at me … Nothing about it is dangerous!” He acknowledged the incidents might be awkward for families but argued the league should “embrace” the attention.

However, Cunningham expressed frustration on her podcast, saying the stunts undermine the WNBA’s efforts to be taken seriously. “Everyone’s trying to make sure the W is not a joke … and then that happens,” she said. Multiple men have been arrested, and the incidents may be linked to a cryptocurrency scheme promoting a meme coin called Green D**** Coin.
