Liverpool host Villarreal at Anfield tonight in the Champions League, but fans with a TNT Sports subscription will not see the match on that channel. The game is being shown live on Amazon Prime Video instead.
Broadcasting Rights Explained
TNT Sports shares Champions League broadcasting rights with Amazon Prime Video. Under the current arrangement, Amazon has first choice for one Tuesday game in each round of fixtures, and it has selected tonight's match.
This will continue under future broadcast agreements, even though the rights are switching to Paramount, who outbid TNT to show European competition. Amazon will retain some broadcasting rights in a new sharing agreement with Paramount, including the ability to pick one game to show on a Tuesday.
Match Preview
Liverpool are aiming for a third consecutive Champions League win. They beat Atletico Madrid 2-1 at home to start their European campaign and won 6-3 away at LASK in their last match in the competition. At the weekend, they earned a Premier League victory over Brentford.
Villarreal are managed by Inigo Perez, Iraola's former assistant and teammate. Perez was unable to secure a work permit to join Iraola at AFC Bournemouth, so he returned to Spain to manage Rayo Vallecano before taking charge at Villarreal this summer. Villarreal have won one and lost one in the Champions League so far, losing 3-2 at Borussia Dortmund and then beating Napoli.
How to Watch
The game will be broadcast on Amazon Prime Video, with coverage starting at 6.30pm BST ahead of an 8pm kick-off. Subscribers can watch via a live stream on the Amazon Prime Video website or app.
