Aston Villa staged a remarkable recovery at Villa Park, coming from two goals down to defeat Red Bull Salzburg 3-2. The decisive goal came from 19-year-old Jamaldeen Jimoh-Aloba, who slotted home Kadan Young's low cross with three minutes remaining to complete the turnaround.
Villa, who had already secured qualification, made six changes with one eye on the weekend. However, they lost Ollie Watkins to a hamstring injury in the 35th minute, replaced by Morgan Rogers. Salzburg had taken the lead on 33 minutes after Tyrone Mings' giveaway, with Karim Konaté turning in Edmund Baidoo's cross despite Victor Lindelöf's attempt to clear. After the break, Moussa Yeo doubled the lead with a flick from Kerim Alajbegovic's cross.
Villa responded through Rogers, who finished neatly after combining with Emi Buendía. Mings then atoned for his earlier error by heading in Matty Cash's cross to level matters. Jimoh-Aloba's late strike sealed a victory that lifted Villa to second in the 36-team table. Watkins' condition remains uncertain, with manager Unai Emery saying: "He felt something, but not a lot. We will test him. I don't know if he will be available for Sunday."
Rangers' Europa League campaign ended with a 3-1 defeat at Porto. Djeidi Gassama had put Danny Röhl's side ahead early with a looping header, but Rodrigo Mora equalised before a mix-up between Jack Butland and James Tavernier allowed Francisco Moura to back-heel Porto into the lead. Maccabi Tel Aviv finished bottom after a 3-0 home defeat to Bologna, and Malmö remain winless after a 2-1 loss at Genk. Red Star Belgrade and Celta Vigo drew 1-1, as did FCSB and Fenerbahce, while Viktoria Plzen won 1-0 at Basel.
