Vanderbilt QB's Brother Arrested Twice This Season in Game Incidents
Vanderbilt QB's brother arrested twice at games

The brother of Vanderbilt University's star quarterback has found himself in police custody for the second time this football season, casting a shadow over the team's celebratory victory against rivals Tennessee.

Second Stadium Arrest for Pavia Brother

Javier Pavia, 25, was detained on a charge of public intoxication during Vanderbilt's impressive 45-24 win over Tennessee at Neyland Stadium on Friday, 30th November. According to a spokesperson for the Knox County Sheriff's Office, Kimberly Glenn, the arrest followed alleged clashes with stadium event staff.

A police report obtained by local media outlines that University of Tennessee staff accused Pavia of obstructing spectators' views with a large flag. He reportedly refused repeated requests to take it down.

Details of the Friday Night Incident

The situation escalated when the responding officer arrived. The report states that Pavia was unsteady on his feet, his speech was slurred, and he showed clear signs of intoxication.

Furthermore, the document notes that he was "extremely verbally combative" with both the event staff and the arresting officer himself. After the incident, Pavia was booked into Knox County Jail and was later released on his own recognizance.

A Pattern of Game-Day Behaviour

This latest arrest marks a troubling repeat of events for Javier Pavia. Court documents confirm he was previously arrested on 20th August, following Vanderbilt's season-opening win against Charleston Southern in Nashville.

In that earlier incident, Javier and another brother, Roel Pavia, were charged with public intoxication and resisting arrest. Police were reportedly called over a belligerent man accused of throwing food at spectators. That case is still pending, with a court hearing scheduled for 12th January.

The repeated arrests of a player's family member during games present an unwanted distraction for the Vanderbilt football programme, even as the team enjoys on-field success.
