Gian van Veen accidentally cut his finger and left a blood stain on the dartboard during the World Darts Championship final against Luke Littler. Officials stepped in to replace the board after a drop of blood was visible on the bottom single five bed.
Despite winning the first set, van Veen was defeated 7-1 by Littler, who became only the fourth player to make three consecutive World Championship finals. The 18-year-old joins Dennis Priestley, Phil Taylor and Gary Anderson in achieving the feat.
Littler, who defeated Ryan Searle 6-1 in the semi-finals, will take home £1million in prize money. He said: 'It's a massive prize. But it's the trophy on the stage, it's not the money. I want to go back-to-back.'
