Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has urged supporters to be the 'most important factor' as the Reds look to overturn a 2-0 deficit against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League last-16 second leg at Anfield.
The Dutch defender stressed the importance of the Anfield atmosphere, drawing on past European nights. 'They will probably be the most important factor, together with our performance,' Van Dijk said. 'I've been very lucky to experience those nights where the connection between the fans and the performance has been unbelievable.'
Liverpool trail after goals from Desire Doue and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in Paris, a match where Arne Slot's side were fortunate to leave with only a two-goal deficit. Van Dijk admitted improvement is essential: 'If we play like we did in Paris then we will have no chance anyway in my opinion.'
'There is an opportunity on Tuesday to come up with a good game plan and fight for it for 90 plus minutes,' he added. 'We have to remember we are Liverpool. We have to make it a memorable night.'
