Igor Tudor believes Tottenham Hotspur are showing signs of recovery after a difficult start to his tenure, with improved mental sharpness and fitness levels driving the team's recent performances. The interim head coach, who took over from Thomas Frank, saw his side end a four-match losing streak with a draw against Liverpool and a win over Atlético Madrid.
Tudor noted that the squad is now 'sleeping less' during games, reacting quicker to dangerous situations. 'That was the key,' he said. 'We are sleeping less on the pitch. That's the main thing. We react before, so for me this is crucial.' Data shows the players are in the 'top four or five of all season for high-intensity runs' under Tudor, winning the ball higher up the pitch and applying more pressure.
Despite the upturn, Spurs remain without a Premier League win in 2026, a 12-game winless run that is their worst in the Premier League era. They sit 16th with 30 points, one point above Sunday's opponents Nottingham Forest. Fan groups are urging supporters to arrive early and back the team, with an estimated 15,000 to 20,000 expected.
Tudor described the feeling of togetherness with fans after his first win as 'beautiful' and 'rare', adding: 'We need to continue all together this small positive moment.' Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario will undergo hernia surgery after the Forest game, ruling him out for around a month, while James Maddison could feature in the run-in after nearly 10 months out with a knee injury.
