Tudor Demands More from Tottenham but Accuses Jimenez of 'Cheating'

Tottenham Hotspur's interim head coach Igor Tudor has launched a scathing critique of his own players while accusing Fulham striker Raul Jimenez of "cheating" following a contentious 2-1 defeat at Craven Cottage. The loss marks Tottenham's second consecutive Premier League setback under Tudor's temporary stewardship, extending their winless streak to a record-equalling ten matches.

Controversial Opener Sparks Fury

Fulham seized an early advantage in the seventh minute when Harry Wilson found the net, but Tottenham's frustration centred on a preceding incident. Raul Jimenez appeared to deliver a slight push on Spurs defender Radu Dragusin, which went unpunished by the match officials. This incident bore a striking resemblance to a decision from the previous weekend, where Tottenham had a goal disallowed against Arsenal due to a similar push by Randal Kolo Muani.

"Of course it's a foul," Tudor asserted in his post-match comments. "Nine out of ten people will say it's a foul, I believe, because it's so obvious. Sometimes the criteria don't have consistency. Last week what happened in our game against Arsenal, same thing."

The Croatian coach did not mince his words regarding Jimenez's actions. "He was not thinking about the ball, he was thinking how to cheat, so he cheated the player with pushing and they scored the goal. So it's cheating and there's the foul."

Spurs' Deep-Rooted Problems Exposed

Fulham doubled their lead in the 34th minute through a long-range effort from former Arsenal midfielder Alex Iwobi. Although Tottenham substitute Richarlison managed to pull a goal back, it proved insufficient to alter the outcome. The result leaves Spurs in a precarious 16th position, just four points above the relegation zone, despite West Ham's concurrent loss to Liverpool.

Tudor painted a bleak picture of the club's current predicament, emphasising systemic issues beyond individual refereeing decisions. "The problems are much bigger, the problems are much bigger," he reflected. "It's a complicated situation. A lot of problems, I cannot tell you nothing new. Nothing new. We need to find the voices inside each of us."

He directly challenged his squad's mentality and performance levels. "I said to the players, 'it's always what you're going to do, what you want to do with yourself,' you know? More personality, more wish to do before reacting, a lot of things."

The interim boss provided a damning assessment of Tottenham's deficiencies across the pitch. "We lack when we attack, we are lacking the quality to score the goal, we are lacking in the middle to run and we are lacking behind to stay there to suffer and not concede the goal. So, an amazing situation."

Substitutes Offer Glimmer of Hope

Spurs were largely outplayed for the opening hour until Tudor introduced substitutes Pape Sarr, Mathys Tel, and Richarlison, who injected some much-needed energy and quality. When questioned about whether he desired greater fight from his team, Tudor's response was unequivocal. "I want to see everything more."

He acknowledged the impact of the substitutes. "Of course they give something and of course we need that, Pedro Porro also, when Kevin Danso comes inside, personality and quality, so it changes. They bring this of course. This is the key also to have the players who can give this to the team. Too many players need the help from each other."

Silva Claims Deserved Victory

Fulham manager Marco Silva opted not to engage with Tudor's accusations regarding the opening goal, instead focusing on his team's overall performance. "No, I will not make any comments on it. Of course it is their opinion and I have to respect it," Silva stated.

The Portuguese coach believed the result was a fair reflection of the match. "Of course the result, I believe the three points, it's clear we deserve it. The score should be different with the amount of chances we created. Great performance from us."

As Tottenham grapple with their extended winless run and mounting pressure, Tudor's candid remarks underscore the significant challenges facing the North London club both on and off the pitch.
