Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham have revealed the details of Thomas Tuchel's half-time speech that inspired England to a commanding second-half performance against Croatia. The Three Lions led twice through Kane's double before the break, but were pegged back each time due to defensive lapses.
Second-Half Dominance
England came out firing after the interval, with Bellingham restoring the lead in the 47th minute. They controlled the remainder of the game, creating numerous chances and sealing the win through Marcus Rashford in the dying moments.
Kane's Praise for Tuchel
Speaking after the match, captain Harry Kane highlighted Tuchel's halftime motivation as pivotal. He told ITV Sport: "You saw the way we came out in the second half. We went full gas and they couldn't live with us. That's the level we have to set for every game."
Kane added: "The manager gave us a speech at halftime, just to say, 'if we lose, we lose in our way.' It was a game of two halves. First half we were OK, really disappointed to concede the way we did. The way we controlled the game once we went ahead, we never looked in danger and scored on the counter-attack. We had a spell where we could have scored three or four."
Teammates React
Declan Rice said Tuchel's words proved he is "a top manager," while Jude Bellingham described it as "just what the team needed." Bellingham continued: "It wasn't one of those with big drama or shouting. We have a mature group with great leaders; everyone knew the level we had to reach. The start of the second half gave us a great platform."
