Thomas Tuchel has not ruled out taking Max Dowman to the World Cup despite omitting the 16-year-old from his latest England squad. The Arsenal midfielder became the youngest-ever Premier League scorer with his goal against Everton, sparking calls for an immediate senior call-up.
Tuchel praised Dowman's talent but emphasised his development at Arsenal. 'He's in a fantastic environment, in a competitive club where teamwork is the number one rule,' Tuchel said. 'At the moment, he's complete, an outstanding talent for his age.'
The England manager noted that Dowman is not a regular starter for Arsenal, adding: 'No need to call him up now and increase the pressure. But we have all options for the World Cup.' Dowman has eight caps for England Under-19s, scoring once.
Dowman could make his first Wembley appearance this weekend when Arsenal face Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final.
