Thomas Tuchel has explained his decision to leave Chelsea forward Cole Palmer out of his England squad for the November international matches, citing the depth of options available in the No. 10 role.
Speaking about the omission, Tuchel said: "It's enough No. 10s and we stick to the guys who were in camp. The impact of all the players was immense. We have Josh King as a new player. He can play all four [attacking] positions. That's basically the reason."
Depth in attacking positions
Tuchel's comments point to the competition for places in the attacking midfield area, with Palmer among those left out for the upcoming break.
The introduction of Josh King, who can operate across all four attacking positions, was highlighted as a key factor in the squad selection.
Squad continuity prioritised
The England manager emphasised the importance of maintaining continuity by keeping faith with players who were already part of the camp.
Palmer's exclusion marks a notable decision ahead of the November fixtures, as the Chelsea star had been part of recent England squads.
