Shaun Murphy secured a 13-11 victory over world number one Judd Trump to advance to the World Snooker Championship semi-finals for the first time since 2015. Trump, who trailed 10-6 at the start of the evening session, mounted a strong comeback by winning five of the first six frames, including a clearance of 111 to level the match. However, Murphy regained his composure with breaks of 70 and 62 to clinch the win.
Murphy will face Kyren Wilson in the last four, after Wilson defeated Neil Robertson 13-8. The match was finely poised at 8-8 overnight, but Wilson won five consecutive frames in the final session to secure victory.
Mark Selby cruised into the semi-finals with a dominant 13-3 win over fellow three-time champion Mark Williams. Selby, who led 6-2 after the first session, reeled off four frames in a row with breaks of 96, 58, and 66. Williams briefly stopped the rot with a 79 break, but Selby sealed the match with two more half-centuries. Selby said: 'I feel as though I'm playing as good as back then, if not better at the moment.'
Williams acknowledged Selby's superiority, stating: 'He played outstanding stuff and I'm a man to put my hands up and say I can't compete with that – not many people can.'
Stuart Bingham edged a final-frame decider against Anthony McGill to reach the semi-finals for the first time since winning the tournament in 2015. Bingham described his 125 clearance as 'definitely the best of my career' after converting a 10-7 deficit into a 12-10 lead before withstanding McGill's fightback.
