Arsenal forward Leandro Trossard has admitted that the club's priority has immediately shifted back to the Premier League after securing a spot in the Champions League final for the first time in 20 years. The Gunners defeated Atletico Madrid over two legs to book their place in the final in Budapest on May 30, and they are now five points clear of Manchester City in the Premier League title race with just three games remaining.
Historic Double Within Reach
Trossard, whose deflected shot led to the decisive goal against Atletico, acknowledged that Arsenal are on the brink of achieving the best season in the club's history. The Gunners could lift both the Premier League and Champions League trophies, a feat not even Arsene Wenger's Invincibles managed. "We just want to win the Premier League and then we have a big final ahead," Trossard said. "We have three important games in the Premier League and we know what we're playing for."
Focus on Domestic Duties
Despite the euphoria of reaching the Champions League final, Trossard stressed that the team's immediate focus is on Sunday's trip to West Ham. "We have to celebrate today but from now on, the focus shifts towards Sunday again," he added. "We have belief already from the very first moment but obviously you can see how tough it is in the Premier League so we need to be up for it again."
Arsenal have never won the Champions League, and this generation of players is eager to make history. They have already beaten European heavyweights Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid, and Inter Milan en route to the final, and they remain unbeaten in the competition this season. Trossard insisted they will not feel like underdogs in the final. "It's not that we will think like that. It's one game so you have to go with everything you can into that game," he said.
Captain's Pride
Gunners captain Martin Odegaard described the achievement as "unbelievable" and praised the team's belief and performance. "We said we wanted to go further than last year and we did. It was such a beautiful night, the stadium was on fire and playing a Champions League final is something we've all been dreaming about our whole lives," Odegaard said. "The belief was always there but we have to show it on the pitch and I think we did that in these two games."
Arsenal now face West Ham, Burnley, and Crystal Palace in the Premier League. Victory in all three matches would secure their first league title in 22 years, setting up a historic double attempt in the Champions League final.
