Nottingham Forest all but secured Premier League safety with a stunning 3-1 victory at Chelsea, while Tottenham Hotspur’s win at Aston Villa deepened West Ham United’s relegation fears. The results left West Ham in the bottom three with just three matches remaining.
Forest took the lead inside 90 seconds through Taiwo Awoniyi, and doubled their advantage on 15 minutes when Igor Jesus converted a penalty after Malo Gusto fouled Awoniyi. Cole Palmer missed a penalty for Chelsea before half-time, and Awoniyi added a third early in the second half to put Forest six points clear of West Ham.
Tottenham secured consecutive league wins for the first time since August 2025 with a 2-1 victory over a much-changed Aston Villa side, moving within touching distance of safety. The win came after West Ham had lost to Brentford, compounding their poor run of form.
West Ham now sit in the bottom three with a challenging run-in, while Spurs could retain their status without picking up another point unless the Hammers produce something extraordinary. Forest, meanwhile, can all but taste safety after their timely upturn in form.
Forest face Newcastle at home, Manchester United away, and Bournemouth at home in their remaining fixtures. Tottenham’s path remains difficult but they now sense a route to survival after weeks of struggle.
