Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly exploring a move for Monaco midfielder Maghnes Akliouche as an alternative to Manchester City winger Savinho. Spurs have been tracking the 21-year-old Brazilian, but City are demanding £70million for the player, who scored just once last season following his £30.8m move from Troyes.
According to reports, Monaco values Akliouche at around £47.5m. The French under-21 international, who also represented his country at the 2024 Paris Olympics, has scored eight times in 44 senior appearances for the Ligue 1 club, including a goal in their season-opening win over Le Havre.
Akliouche is adept both as an attacking midfielder and out wide, a versatility that appeals to Spurs as they seek reinforcements following the long-term injury to James Maddison and the departures of Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevski, who is out after knee surgery.
In a separate development, Tottenham have made a significant breakthrough in their pursuit of Crystal Palace forward Eberechi Eze. The two clubs have reached an agreement worth just over £60million for the 27-year-old, who was initially expected to be left out of Palace's squad for their match against Chelsea but started and impressed, with a first-half free kick controversially ruled out.
Eze's contract previously contained a £68m release clause, but manager Oliver Glasner has confirmed it expired last Friday. Spurs were reluctant to meet that fee and have tabled a verbal offer of around £55m plus bonuses, which has now been accepted.
