The club acknowledged the gravity of their relegation battle in a letter to supporters, stating the extension was agreed with the Fan Advisory Board and the Tottenham Hotspur Supporters' Trust to ensure fans have full clarity on which division the team will play in next season.
Spurs are 16th in the table, one point above the relegation zone, after a disastrous run of 11 league games without a win – their worst sequence since 1975. Interim manager Igor Tudor has lost all four matches since replacing Thomas Frank, and his position is increasingly precarious. A previously unthinkable relegation would devastate revenue, though the club has not indicated whether prices would be reduced in the Championship.
General admission season tickets for 2026–27 have been frozen at current levels, with concessions for juniors and seniors. However, the Supporters' Trust has demanded refunds after Tuesday night's 5–2 Champions League defeat at Atlético Madrid, calling the performance a “total disgrace” and warning the club was “sleep walking off the edge of a cliff”.
Former manager Harry Redknapp has been touted as a potential saviour, despite not having managed since 2017. The 79-year-old told TalkSport he received a phone call last week from former chairman Daniel Levy, who was moved aside in September after nearly 25 years. Redknapp said Levy told him: “If I was there now, I would definitely bring you back into it to the end of the season.” Redknapp is currently at the Cheltenham Festival, where his horse The Jukebox Man runs in Friday's Gold Cup.
