Matos revealed the left-back search is nearing a conclusion after the pre-season victory over Leganes, with the club still looking to add strength in depth.
"We are really close on a back-up for left-back. But at the moment that's it," he said. "It would be a loan."
Cover for Josh Tymon
The Swans have been looking for cover for first-choice Josh Tymon since the start of the summer, with few options behind the former Hull City defender. The club have already signed Stephen Welsh, Moussa Yeo, Joseph Opoku and Elijah Just this window.
Matos indicated the work is not finished, saying: "The market's still open, and when it's open there's always possibilities, and that's where are at the moment. We need a little more depth in some parts of the pitch and we are working on that."
Midfield targets and transfer rumours
With Ethan Galbraith and Liam Cullen among those to have left, Matos confirmed midfield is an area he is keen to strengthen. The club are understood to have failed in a bid for Charleroi's Yacine Titraoui, who is reportedly now set to join Lens.
Reports in Spain have claimed the Swans have made a bid for Valencia's Andre Almeida, but Matos refused to be drawn on suggestions the 26-year-old could be a target. "It's rumours," he added. "When we have something we're going to announce it. That's what we've been doing. When we have something to announce, we will announce it."
Youth and depth
Asked which other positions need reinforcing, Matos said: "Given the midfielders that have left, midfield will be one of the parts [of the plan]. At the back as well, we still need cover, despite the fact I'm loving Carter [Heywood]. I think he's a wonderful talent that we have, and we need to take care of him as well."
"Today at 17, he was playing against a good competitive team, so it was really good to see. So there are one or two more places where we need that depth and then we'll see."
