Player Ratings
Lawrence Vigouroux 6 - Made a good save shortly before Birmingham's opener. Apart from the goal, there was little to complain about.
Filip Lissah 6 - Looked comfortable, linked up well with the front three and made some solid challenges, but was forced into a couple of mistakes.
Cameron Burgess 5 - Headed over early on, but suffered a couple of shaky moments in the first half. Should have done better with the free-kick in the build-up to the goal. Improved after the break, but it was a tricky afternoon overall. Limped off with an injury late on.
Ben Cabango 6 - Denied by Beadle late on. Did fairly well defensively, winning many aerial duels.
Josh Tymon 6 - Didn't get into the game as much as he would have liked and allowed Vincente to get in behind him at times. Didn't do an awful lot wrong, though.
Marko Stamenic 6 - Didn't have his usual influence at the base of midfield. Snapped at a couple of shots. Substituted.
Moussa Yeo 6 - A little rusty initially, but grew into the game reasonably well. Put in a decent cross for Idah that nearly yielded a goal. There's more to come. Substituted.
Melker Widell 6 - Buzzed around midfield well enough, but often with little real purchase. Substituted.
Elijah Just 6 - Lots of energy near the tip of midfield. Should have scored in the first half but was sloppy in possession on occasion. A mixed outing.
Star Man and Substitutes
Joseph Opoku 7 - STAR MAN - Gave a real injection of energy out wide. Set up good chances for Idah and Just in the first half. Fired well wide following a decent counter. Faded after the break, but still a good first competitive bow in English football.
Adam Idah 7 - Held the ball up really well and pressed the Birmingham defence. Could have done better with his chance early on, but still an encouraging showing. Substituted.
Substitutes: Jay Fulton (on for Widell 64) - Made a couple of decent challenges - 6. Leo Walta (on for Lissah 64) - Quite lively in the middle, but couldn't unlock the defence - 6. Zan Vipotnik (on for Idah 64) - Flicked wide late on. Another step towards full fitness - 6. Josh Key (on for Yeo 64) - Useful injection of pace out wide on the right - 6. Eom Jisung (on for Stamenic 82) - Made a couple of decent runs, but again couldn't really puncture the Birmingham defence - 6.
