Jordan Allan's double for Stirling Albion secured a comfortable opening-day win over Dumbarton, with the new striker admitting his move has rekindled his love for the game.
Perfect Start for Allan
The 27-year-old, who joined in the summer from Queen of the South, won and converted a first-half penalty before adding a second from close range. His performance helped Stirling to a 2-0 victory at Forthbank, with the team looking organized and dangerous going forward.
Allan, playing alongside on-loan Dunfermline teenager Lucas Fyfe, was quick to praise his new surroundings. "It's been brilliant so far, the boys have been great and it's a really close changing room which is only going to put us in good stead for the season," he said.
Rediscovering Happiness
Allan admitted that his time at Queen of the South had been difficult, but a conversation with Stirling boss Steven Whittaker convinced him to make the move. "I wanted to go somewhere where I could be happy again playing football because I felt as if I lost my way a little last year," he explained.
He also credited his link-up with 17-year-old Fyfe, who set up the second goal, and praised the competition for places with last season's top scorer Russell McLean. "The overall performance across the team was magic - three points, clean sheet and two goals, which could have been more," Allan said.
