Seven-time world snooker champion Stephen Hendry boasts a net worth of £13.5 million, accumulated through his illustrious career which includes 36 ranking tournament wins. The 55-year-old, who will be a pundit for the BBC's UK Championships coverage, is also known for his personal life, including a 19-year age gap with his current partner and the breakdown of his marriage.
Hendry began a relationship with children's entertainer Lauren Thundow after meeting her at a snooker event over a decade ago. Thundow was 26 and Hendry 45 at the time. In his autobiography, Hendry recalled their first meeting: 'I first met Lauren when she was selling merchandise after a Legends snooker exhibition. She's attractive and we smile at each other but I think nothing of it.'
The romance began after Hendry's marriage to Amanda Tart ended in divorce in 2014. The couple had married in 1995 and had two sons, Blaine and Carter. Hendry described telling Tart about his feelings for Thundow: 'She is shocked and devastated. I know I can't be this way. I couldn't live with the guilt.'
Hendry's career highlights include being the youngest-ever World Snooker Champion at 21 years and 106 days, a record he still holds. He dominated world rankings from April 1990 to May 1998, won six Masters titles including five consecutive between 1989 and 1993, and five UK Championships. He retired in 2012, made a brief comeback, and finally retired for good in 2024.
