Tottenham are set to welcome back Xavi Simons and Savio from the pair's respective injuries, with one potentially in line to return this weekend when Spurs take on Leeds.
Simons, the Dutch playmaker, has been out since April with a torn ACL that he suffered against Wolves last season. Savio, meanwhile, has had an injury-hit start to his career in north London since his £85million move from Manchester City. The Brazilian has missed the last three matches since picking up a muscle problem against Manchester United.
Savio closing in on Leeds return
It is believed that Savio is the one potentially in line to return this weekend, with Football London reporting that the winger was pictured alongside his team-mates in the dressing room at Hotspur Way. De Zerbi's latest update on the forward came a couple of weeks ago, when he revealed that the 22-year-old would be out for "some weeks".
"Savio, unfortunately, on Tuesday, before we left for Marbella, he felt a muscular problem, and we lost him for some weeks, unfortunately," said the Tottenham boss. "I don't know [how long he'll be sidelined], but some weeks for sure."
Simons ahead of schedule in recovery
As for Simons, the former RB Leipzig and Paris Saint-Germain midfielder has not featured for Spurs at all this term. However, The Times reports that the Netherlands international could return to training ahead of schedule, with most ACL injuries taking a year to recover from.
Simons is thought to be closing in on a comeback, although it remains to be seen how soon he will be able to make a full return to competitive action. Should Simons complete his comeback, it would be two months ahead of schedule, but it would offer De Zerbi another option in the No10 position of his 4-2-3-1 shape.
