Spurs Plot Shock Move For Brentford's Frank As Assistant

Tottenham Hotspur have held talks with intermediaries regarding a potential move for Brentford manager Thomas Frank, as the club weighs up the future of current boss Ange Postecoglou. The Australian ended a 17-year trophy drought by winning the Europa League final against Manchester United, but a disastrous Premier League campaign saw Spurs finish 17th with just 38 points.

Postecoglou admitted after the final match of the season on 25 May that he was uncertain about his future, and the subsequent silence from the club has not been encouraging. Chairman Daniel Levy cannot easily overlook the league performance, despite the European success.

Frank has impressed Spurs with his work at Brentford, having taken charge in October 2018 when the club was in the Championship. He secured promotion via the playoffs in 2020-21 and has established the Bees in the top flight, with a 10th-place finish and 56 points this season.

Brentford expect Frank to remain for another season, and Spurs would face obstacles including paying compensation to acquire him and settling Postecoglou's contract, which has two years remaining.
