The highly anticipated 2026 edition of Soccer Aid has officially announced its participating line-up, featuring an impressive roster of nine debutants headlined by former Barcelona and Spain defender Jordi Alba. The charity football match, which pits an England XI against a World XI, will take place at the iconic London Stadium on Sunday, 31st May 2026, marking the event's twentieth anniversary.

Legendary Footballers and Celebrities Set for Debut

Among the standout new additions is Jordi Alba, a Champions League winner who retired in 2025 after a storied career that included success with Inter Miami in the MLS Cup. Alba expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "I’m very pleased to be making my debut for the World XI at Soccer Aid for UNICEF. Playing in the twentieth anniversary of the event will be a great pleasure." He will be joined by other footballing debutants Jen Beattie, the former Arsenal and Scotland star with over 100 international caps, and Ali Krieger, a two-time World Cup champion with the United States women's team.

The celebrity debutants include a diverse mix of talents:

  • Owen Cooper, the 16-year-old actor from Adolescence, who becomes the youngest player in either squad.
  • Harry Aikines-Aryeetey, known as Nitro from Gladiators and a former Team GB Olympian.
  • Other notable names such as GK Barry, Damson Idris, Joe Marler, and Jordan North.

Returning Icons and Management Teams

The event will also see the return of legendary footballers from previous editions, including former England internationals Wayne Rooney and Jermain Defoe, as well as Italy's iconic defender Leonardo Bonucci. In a special managerial twist, Robbie Williams, who helped establish Soccer Aid two decades ago, will take charge of the England team, while Olympic gold medallist Usain Bolt will manage the World XI, having previously participated as a player.

Charity Impact and Event Details

Since its inception in 2006, Soccer Aid has raised over £121 million for UNICEF, supporting children's rights and development worldwide. Tickets for the 2026 match are priced at £20 for adults and £10 for children, with proceeds contributing to this vital cause. The broadcast will be presented by Dermot O'Leary and Alex Scott, featuring an extended half-time show to celebrate the twentieth anniversary.

The 2025 edition saw the World XI triumph 5-4 at Old Trafford, with Carlos Tevez scoring four goals and Big Zuu netting the winner. This year's match promises similar excitement, blending competitive spirit with philanthropic efforts. As Alba highlighted, "It is so important that we raise funds to continue to help all children around the world to play and thrive."
