Shearer's Blunt Gyokeres Warning to Arsenal
Shearer's Blunt Gyokeres Warning to Arsenal

Arsenal may be four points clear at the top of the Premier League, but concerns over Viktor Gyokeres' form persist. The Swedish striker has gone four league games without a goal, and nine games overall, since joining from Sporting Lisbon in the summer. Despite a prolific record in Portugal, he has managed just three goals for the Gunners.

Manager Mikel Arteta has warned Gyokeres that he must be mentally strong enough to handle goal droughts. Speaking before the 1-0 win at Fulham, Arteta said: 'I told him before the first meeting, I said, the nine that I want is a nine that when he doesn't score for six or eight games, he can handle that. If not, you have to go somewhere else.'

Arteta insisted that Gyokeres remains important to the team even without goals, adding: 'He brings so much to the team. He creates space and solutions to a lot of the players around him.'

Meanwhile, controversy arose during the Fulham match when referee Anthony Taylor overturned a penalty decision after a VAR review. Former PGMOL chief Keith Hackett criticised the incident, saying Fulham players swarming the monitor was 'unacceptable' and that the Premier League must ensure it does not happen again.
