Man United player ratings: Shea Lacey one of three 8/10s in win
Shea Lacey one of three 8/10s in Man United win

Michael Carrick's Manchester United made it back-to-back wins in pre-season as they came from behind to beat Atletico Madrid 2-1 in Stockholm and claim the Snapdragon Cup.

United went behind early when Arnau Ortiz's left-wing cross evaded everyone in a packed penalty area and crept inside Tom Heaton's far post. The response was positive, with Shea Lacey winning a penalty that Bryan Mbeumo converted. Jack Fletcher then crossed for Mbeumo to score his second.

Player ratings vs Atletico Madrid

  • Tom Heaton: 7 - Frustrated by the goal he conceded but made one sharp save just before half-time and was safe after the break.
  • Leny Yoro: 7 - Should have won the header for the first goal but improved, linking well with Amad and defending well down the flank.
  • Harry Maguire: 6 - Confusion with Heaton late in the half and not his best game after ducking out of the way of Ortiz's cross.
  • Ayden Heaven: 7 - Played a wonderful line-breaking pass to send Dorgu down the left, though the offside flag went up.
  • Luke Shaw: 6 - Beaten too easily high up the pitch on a couple of occasions as Atletico had joy down his side.
  • Andrey Santos: 7 - A bit casual with an early pass to Heaton but always wanted the ball and passed well.
  • Mason Mount: 8 - Pressed well, was competitive in midfield and added sharp touches, looking the best player.
  • Amad: 7 - Excellent press created a chance for Mbeumo and showed confident touches in his first pre-season outing.
  • Shea Lacey: 8 - Delivered a lovely right-footed cross for Mbeumo and won the penalty with neat footwork in the box.
  • Patrick Dorgu: 6 - Worked hard down the left but timed one run wrong and wasted a good chance.
  • Bryan Mbeumo: 8 - Coolly took the penalty and was in the right place for his second, looking a good option through the middle.
