Norwich City remain bottom of the Premier League after a goalless draw with Brighton, but the result was overshadowed by criticism of Brighton defender Shane Duffy from Norwich fans. Duffy, on loan at Brighton from Norwich, made a crucial goal-line clearance to deny Josh Sargent an open goal in the first half.
The Canaries had chances to win the match, with Sargent and Teemu Pukki both wasting opportunities. Sargent's tame shot was cleared by Duffy, while Pukki's chipped finish only found the side netting. Norwich have now scored just twice in eight league games this season.
Brighton also had a penalty appeal turned down when Neal Maupay was brought down by Tim Krul in the first half. Referee Peter Bankes did not award a spot-kick, and VAR did not advise a review. Brighton boss Graham Potter said it was a tough decision for VAR to overrule.
Norwich manager Daniel Farke praised his side's defensive improvement, with back-to-back clean sheets for the first time since March 2016. However, he acknowledged the need to convert chances, saying, 'Josh is the most disappointed guy in the dressing room because he knows he should have scored.'
