Manchester United came from behind to beat a 10-man Crystal Palace 2-1 at Old Trafford, with Benjamin Sesko scoring the winner in the second half. The victory lifts United to third in the table under interim manager Michael Carrick.
Crystal Palace took an early lead through Maxence Lacroix's header from a Brennan Johnson corner. United's response was sluggish until a turning point just before the hour mark, when Palace defender Matheus Cunha was sent off for pulling back Bruno Fernandes in the box. Fernandes converted the resulting penalty to level the score.
Sesko then put United ahead in the 64th minute, heading home a Fernandes cross after a weak Palace clearance. The Slovenian striker now has nine goals for the season, including seven in his last eight appearances. United dominated thereafter, with Carrick's side holding on comfortably to secure the win.
Carrick, who has overseen a remarkable turnaround since taking over, said: 'It doesn't mean an awful lot at the moment. We want to keep progressing.' Palace manager Oliver Glasner bemoaned the penalty decision, arguing the foul started outside the box, but admitted his team struggled after going down to 10 men.
