Sesko: United players 'stupid' not to learn from Casemiro

Benjamin Sesko has stated that Manchester United's squad would be 'stupid' not to absorb as much knowledge as possible from Casemiro before the Brazilian departs at the end of the season. Casemiro agreed earlier this year not to extend his contract by an additional 12 months, meaning his final appearance for the club will be the last game of the season away to Brighton.

The midfielder, who opened the scoring against Brentford on Monday night and earned man of the match honours, is highly regarded behind the scenes for his work ethic and dedication to his craft. Sesko believes this is positively influencing United's younger players.

'He's a working machine,' said Sesko. 'He's experienced and what he's putting on the pitch is unbelievable. You need someone like this in your team. Unfortunately, he's leaving. But yeah, we are pleased that we can use him until the last minute in the game and we're going to use him. I think you can be stupid if you don't look at him and try to be like him when it comes to the work-rate and stuff. I think everyone is pleased that he is here.'

Bruno Fernandes is another player Sesko has spent considerable time learning from since his £73.7 million arrival from RB Leipzig last summer. It was Fernandes who assisted Sesko for the second goal, securing his 19th Premier League assist of the season.

'The way he's playing, the way he's understanding the game, it's just outstanding and I'm really pleased that I can be part of the team being with him,' added Sesko. 'I'm listening to him on and off the pitch. I've been looking up to him a lot since I arrived here and he's helping me a lot.'

Regarding personal targets for the remainder of the season, Sesko remained coy. His goal on Monday brought his tally to 11 across all competitions in his debut English campaign.

'For me, it was just to get used to the league, to really feel the way it is, because I know I'm getting better from game to game,' the Slovenian explained. 'Having team-mates that I am understanding more and more. You can get just better.'

When asked if scoring at Old Trafford ever loses its special feeling, he replied instantly: 'No, it never will.'
