Former Rangers midfielder Scott Arfield has been appointed manager of Scottish League One side East Fife, taking his first permanent role in the dugout after an interim spell at Livingston.
The Methil club turned to the 38-year-old after sacking veteran boss Dick Campbell last month. Arfield, who retired from playing earlier this year, has signed a deal until May 2029.
Playing career and move to coaching
Arfield ended his playing career at Livingston, having joined the club after a second spell at Falkirk, where he started out. He also spent five years at Ibrox, where he was part of the title-winning squad under Steven Gerrard.
Speaking about his new role, Arfield said: "I am absolutely delighted to be the new manager of East Fife and I cannot wait to get started."
Ambitions for East Fife
Arfield added: "I feel I am ready to go into coaching after learning a lot from excellent managers during my playing career, and I am grateful to East Fife for believing in me and for giving me this opportunity."
"My aim is now to create opportunities for others and to build a team which will excite East Fife supporters and attract the attention of the local community. It is a highly respected club which has great potential, and it is a privilege to be given the chance to lead it forward."
Chairman's backing
Chairman Liam Anderson said: "We are delighted to have agreed a deal with Scott to become our new player-manager. This is an innovative appointment and gives a clear indication of our ambitions going forward."
East Fife currently sit sixth in League One. Anderson added: "I am sure that the arrival of Scott will be welcomed by our fans who are keen to see an exciting brand of football at Bayview."
