Mo Salah has been tipped to resist a move to the Saudi Pro League and instead join an Italian giant this summer, according to Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher. The Egyptian forward confirmed last week he will leave Anfield at the end of the season after nine trophy-laden years.
Speaking on The Overlap podcast, Carragher said: 'I can see him in Italy with one of the giants. I just think your career's over when you go there (Saudi Arabia). I think he'll still be looking at his Champions League record or how many goals he can get.'
Meanwhile, Liverpool's search for a replacement has identified Bayern Munich's Michael Olise as a dream target, but signing him may prove impossible. Bayern view the French winger as central to their team and are reluctant to sell, especially after Liverpool hijacked their bid for Florian Wirtz last summer.
Wirtz joined Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen in a £116million deal, despite strong interest from Bayern and Manchester City. According to Fabrizio Romano, Bayern were unhappy with how Liverpool operated during those negotiations and are hesitant to 'contribute to Liverpool's success' by selling them a top player.
Replacing a player of Salah's calibre will not be straightforward, and Liverpool may have to cast their net wider in the search for his successor this summer.
