Mohamed Salah has sent a message to supporters ahead of completing a surprise move to Trabzonspor. The Egyptian called time on his Liverpool career after a trophy and goal-laden nine seasons earlier this summer, mutually agreeing to cancel the final year of his contract in order to move on.
Salah's Next Chapter
The 34-year-old had been heavily linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, while he was in talks with Besiktas over a move to Istanbul last month, only for the move to break down. But it is Trabzonspor who have now won the race for his signature, with the club announcing they were in transfer talks with Salah on Tuesday night and that he would arrive in Trabzon on Wednesday.
They have now shared pictures of Salah in a Trabzonspor shirt for the first time, revealing that the Liverpool legend will wear the number 61 jersey. In a video pulling on the jersey for the first time on his flight to Turkey, the veteran addressed supporters as he spoke out on his imminent move for the first time.
Message to Fans
“Trabzon, are you ready?” he said. “I can hear you. See you very soon. Bize Her Yer Trabzon! (Everywhere is Trabzon for us!)” Salah is set to sign a two-year deal with the Turkish outfit, while Trabzonspor released a statement confirming his imminent arrival on Tuesday after an initial teaser video of an Egyptian pyramid.
The statement read: “Public Announcement. Negotiations have begun regarding the transfer of professional footballer Mohamed Salah to our Club.” In a follow-up, they said: “Professional footballer Mohamed Salah, with whom we have begun transfer negotiations, will be at Istanbul Atatürk Airport General Aviation Terminal at 12:00 on Wednesday, August 5. The player is scheduled to arrive in Trabzon on the same day in the evening hours. The time and other details regarding the welcome program in Trabzon will be shared with the public through our club’s official communication channels during the day.”
