Ryan Moore, the leading Flat jockey in the UK, was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge on Thursday after a fall at Newmarket. The incident occurred when his mount, Newton's Law, reared in the starting stalls before the final race, causing Moore to strike the back of his neck.
Moore was able to walk to an ambulance but complained of neck pain and was subsequently taken to hospital for assessment. Michael Prosser, Newmarket's clerk of the course, confirmed the jockey's transfer, stating it was standard procedure after a fall.
Newton's Law was withdrawn from the five-furlong handicap but appeared unharmed. Moore, who holds a commanding lead in the jockeys' championship, is scheduled to ride seven horses at Newmarket on Friday, including Integral in the Group One Falmouth Stakes.
