Roy Keane has warned new Nottingham Forest head coach Ange Postecoglou that he will be under pressure working for owner Evangelos Marinakis, following the sacking of Nuno Espirito Santo. The Irishman, speaking on ITV during England's World Cup qualifier against Serbia, said he was not surprised by the decision and had no sympathy for the Portuguese manager.
Forest confirmed Espirito Santo's departure late on Monday, citing 'recent circumstances' after a falling out with Marinakis. Less than 24 hours later, Postecoglou was announced as his replacement, returning to management for the first time since being sacked by Tottenham at the end of last season.
Keane said: 'I'm not surprised. Why should we be surprised about what happens at Nottingham Forest? And I've no sympathy for any manager that goes to Forest. You're going to be under pressure with the owner there. So I certainly wasn't surprised when they moved him on.'
Postecoglou's first game in charge will be against Arsenal on Saturday, but he has already been dealt an injury blow as full-back Ola Aina was forced off with a suspected hamstring injury during Nigeria's 1-1 draw with South Africa. The Australian has reportedly signed an 18-month contract, keeping him at the City Ground until the summer of 2027.
