Ronaldo Hints at International Retirement After Emotional World Cup Exit

Cristiano Ronaldo has indicated that he will consider his international future after the World Cup, following an emotional interview in which his sister suggested the tournament could be his last for Portugal. The 41-year-old scored in Portugal's victory over Croatia but was substituted before the final whistle.

Speaking after the match, Ronaldo said: 'It is not important now. I will have time to talk about that after winning or losing the tournament; I will talk to my family and then I will make the most appropriate decision.' He added that he no longer makes decisions 'in the heat of the moment'.

Ronaldo's sister, Katie Aveiro, had earlier told Portuguese broadcaster SportTV: 'From the information I have, they can say goodbye. Enjoy it while it lasts. I believe this is their farewell.' She referred to Ronaldo's international career as 'his last dance'.

Ronaldo also paid tribute to former Real Madrid teammate Luka Modric, whose World Cup ended with Croatia's defeat. 'He remains a legend in the world of football, and we are close in age. I have great respect for Modrić,' Ronaldo said.
