Manchester United legend Bryan Robson has backed Bruno Fernandes to lead the club to a Premier League title and urged the club to avoid signing Cole Palmer, Jude Bellingham and Morgan Rogers. Fernandes, 31, is under contract until 2028 and is expected to decide his future at the end of the season.
Speaking to Boyle Sports, Robson said the trio are 'very, very good players' but are not what United need. 'I think in the midfield area Manchester United need a really top player who can defend and pass the ball well,' he added. 'That's the type of player we need.'
United have enjoyed a renaissance under Michael Carrick, sitting third in the table with an 11-game unbeaten streak. Fernandes has contributed seven goals and 13 assists in 25 league games this season and is a contender for PFA Player of the Year.
Robson, who won multiple titles at United after turning 33, dismissed concerns over Fernandes' age. 'You can win a lot of things if you challenge yourself and keep yourself really fit,' he said. 'If you've got the experience then you can help people around you and I think Bruno can do that.'
