Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the 72-year-old secretary of Health and Human Services, has taken his workout routine to the next level by teaming up with action-movie legend Arnold Schwarzenegger. The two were photographed together at Gold's Gym in Venice Beach, California, in a social media post that quickly garnered attention.
Senior's Day at Gold's Gym
Kennedy shared a selfie on Thursday showing him and Schwarzenegger, 78, posing in a gym filled with exercise equipment. The caption read: "Senior's Day, Gold's Gym in Venice," although it featured a misplaced apostrophe. The image highlights the longstanding friendship between the two men, who were once linked through Schwarzenegger's marriage to Kennedy's cousin, Maria Shriver—a union that ended in divorce.
Last year, a paparazzi video captured Kennedy and Schwarzenegger leaving the same gym alongside bodybuilder Ralf Moeller, further cementing their fitness camaraderie.
A History of Bizarre Workout Videos
This latest post follows Kennedy's earlier viral workout video with musician Kid Rock, released in February. The HHS-produced montage showed a shirtless Kennedy in blue jeans and bare feet, vigorously pedaling a stationary bicycle and plunging into a cold tub at Kid Rock's Nashville mansion. The video sparked controversy, with Rep. Linda Sanchez (D-Calif.) accusing Kennedy during an April House Ways and Means Committee hearing of suspending a "pro-vaccine messaging campaign" while "spending taxpayer dollars to drink milk shirtless in a hot tub with Kid Rock." Kennedy dismissed her claims as "misinformation."
Kennedy, a prominent vaccine skeptic leading the Trump administration's "Make America Healthy Again" initiative, has also been seen working out with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy in separate videos last year.
Schwarzenegger's Support Despite Political Differences
Schwarzenegger, a moderate Republican who has publicly opposed President Donald Trump and endorsed his 2024 rival Kamala Harris, expressed his support for Kennedy despite policy disagreements. "I don't agree with everything policy-wise, but I like him as a human being. I mean, he's fantastic," Schwarzenegger told TV and radio host Andy Cohen, according to USA Today. "So when I ran as a Republican and a Democrat like Bobby Kennedy helps me, I said to myself that I should always be there for him. No matter if I believe in everything that he does or not, I will always support him."
