David Seaman Questions David Raya's Role in Arsenal's Draw with Sunderland

Former Arsenal goalkeeper David Seaman has criticised David Raya's decision-making during Sunderland's late equaliser in Saturday's 2-2 draw at the Stadium of Light. The Gunners were leading 2-1 before Brobbey's acrobatic strike in the 94th minute rescued a point for the Black Cats.

Seaman, speaking on Premier League Productions, questioned whether Raya should have come for the cross that led to the goal. 'Whether Raya should come, I'd question that,' he said. 'And the way he comes for the ball, he tries to catch it, is he aware of the guy getting close? It's a great finish by Brobbey but I would just question the decision of Raya, whether he should come and try to punch it, rather than try to catch it.'

Arsenal had fallen behind to Dan Ballard's first-half header but responded through Bukayo Saka and a brilliant effort from Leandro Trossard. However, Sunderland's persistence paid off when Ballard flicked on a long ball for Brobbey to score.

Despite the dropped points, Arsenal remain seven points clear at the top of the Premier League, though that gap could be reduced by Manchester City, Liverpool, Bournemouth or Chelsea. Seaman insisted the Gunners are still in a strong position. 'This was a difficult game,' he added. 'Sunderland were well-organised... But Arsenal... they're in a good position because this was a big test.'
