Marcus Rashford is on the verge of leaving Manchester United for Barcelona on loan, but the Catalan club must pay the entirety of his £325,000-a-week wages to seal the move. The 27-year-old forward has rejected lucrative offers from Saudi Arabia and is determined to join Barcelona, with a loan agreement close to being finalised between the two clubs.
Barcelona initially hesitated, pursuing other targets like Athletic Bilbao's Nico Williams and Liverpool's Luis Diaz, but have now turned to Rashford as an option for the left wing and cover for veteran striker Robert Lewandowski. United have placed a £40 million price tag on Rashford and insist on a loan with an option to buy, with the Spanish side covering his full salary.
Rashford, a United academy product with 138 goals in 426 appearances, fell out with manager Ruben Amorim and was loaned to Aston Villa in January before injury cut his spell short. His impending departure marks a significant moment, as he has helped United win the FA Cup, EFL Cup twice, and the Europa League.
Speaking in December, Rashford said: 'When I leave I'll make a statement and it will be from me... I think I'm ready for a new challenge and the next steps.' United are also close to selling Jadon Sancho to Juventus as they overhaul their squad ahead of the 2025/26 season.
